Blog 16 – Jarrahdale to Busselton – Camping Show Number 2

De Trucksta at Cape Peron

We had a great drive to Jarrahdale, winding up through the hills and forests, passing a Monastery, a prison farm camp and driving across the Serpentine Dam.  The free RV camping area was huge and very popular but we didn’t have any trouble finding a great spot.

Setup at Jarrahdale

We took the bikes for a ride planning on riding the local mountain bike path.  Well eventually we found it after several cracks through the overgrown forest, lifting our bikes over fallen logs and the like.  Heading home we accidentally stumbled across the car park at the start of the mountain bike tracks, we didn’t miss the opportunity to have a crack on one of the tracks and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We spent a day doing retail chores.  This meant a visit to Costco where we purchased a membership and shopped up a storm.  We did actually need stuff for our mat gig, fuel for the truck, which was about 25c per litre cheaper, but I took advantage and purchased groceries and Christmas presents.  Gotta do what you gotta do 😜.  We also picked up some moving blankets to use in our trailer when transporting the camping mats.

Our time was up in Jarrahdale and it was time to hit Mandurah.  We went via Rockingham to check out Cape Peron.  Wow bloody Wow!  😮 This was amazing and we highly recommend.  We wandered around and I was drooling at the gorgeous water, the scenery and even at spotting a sneaky snake sunning on the edge of a path.  By the way, this was a surprise to me, all I knew was “you will love this and it will be worth the diversion”.  What’s going on here??? Nah just kidding, Freddie is just looking after his missus’ mental health, what a champion. 🤣

We have a 3 day camping and caravan show on the weekend and we had to get set up.  When we arrived we found that our tables hadn’t arrived as yet and weren’t due until the next day.  We unloaded all the mats into the marquee as we had to leave our trailer on site as it couldn’t fit in the caravan park.  Job done and now time for a beverage.

We headed back next day, got all set up and it was showtime.  It was a great 3 days, we sold out all of our large mats.  We have discovered that in WA they have big caravans.  An awesome weekend all round, except maybe for the small bit where Fred fell off his bike.  We were commuting to and from the show and believe it or not, first day heading home, Fred had to brake quickly and oops, straight over the handle bars.  Who would of thought that I was a better bike handler than Freddie 😜

Between setup and the show we managed to squeeze in a ride. Here are the highlights.

Stay tuned……..
