The Trailer – old to new

We have owned our car trailer for about 19 years and it has been very handy for us and for plenty of mates but it is now time to bring it along for the ride, to be more precise, to carry our ride, our Suzuki Jimny.

Well Fred being so talented, it was just another project on his long list. In the next couple of weeks we are heading off on our first trip in De Busta. We have 4 weeks leave and plan to spend every valuable day enjoying life to the fullest, our test run on what will be the norm in 11 or so months. Now De Busta won’t be completely finished when we go on holidays but we will have it close, definitely liveable. So with the countdown on, Fred has a list of jobs all assigned timeframes, so we utilised the Easter weekend to our advantage and went full steam on the trailer.

Here are some pics of the trailer, from start to now.

As original – picking up the Jimny
Frame coming together
Back View – Door doubles as ramp to load Jimny
Other Side
Front with modified draw bar

So after 3 days of yakka we are close to finishing. Fred has wired inside and attached lights and an electric winch to open and shut back door (ramp). It won’t be completely finished for our upcoming trip but bloody close and will definitely do the job. It will carry our Jimny, pushbikes, Hobie and also act as the tool shed. Stay tuned, will post the finished photos all loaded up.
