Blog 20 – Harcourt to Traralgon

When we left you last week, we were camped at “The Oak Forest” in Harcourt.

The mountain bike trails and the view from the top

Of course we tried some of the bike tracks, starting with the “easy” ride first.  As there was only 1 easy ride we progressed onto the intermediate.  Talk about gnarly, narrow tracks – ups, downs, jumps, rocks, great sweeping curves (velodrome style) and that was the easy track. 🤣 Let’s just say that I deduced that the hard tracks were not for me. 🐥🐥 I enjoyed it immensely though, even if I had to walk a bit here and there.  Kudo’s to Fred who did all this without a motor.

The surrounds of our camp area – a bit hard to take lol!

This little bugger gave me a nip on the foot, I guess I can’t blame him, after all I did stand on him, by mistake of course.

It was time to head to the big smoke and this time it is Melbourne and onward to the Latrobe Valley.  This is extra exciting as we will see the kids and our grand baby Lincoln.  But first we had pickups in Melbourne to prepare for the show in Traralgon the following week.  It was time to get more self sufficient and buy our own marquees and tables. Hiring them costs an arm and a leg!

After a brief stop in Traralgon to get a “son cuddle” and then dropping off De Trailer in Morwell for that ever elusive roadworthy, we continued onto Heyfield to camp for a couple of nights.  We love it here as it is on the fringe of the rail trail so of course we took advantage to ride a couple of days.

Friday we headed back to Traralgon where we started working on a secret project.  It’s a secret for now so you will have to be patient 😂. I spent Saturday with Jamie and Lincoln, ah there’s nothing like a gorgeous, vivacious grand baby to revive the heart and soul.

The View from the Boo, not to mention The Serenity

Another therapy is great friends and we were lucky enough to spend a couple of nights with our mates in Mirboo North, John and Lee-Anne.  A trial run for when we come back in a couple of weeks.

Too finish off a great week, we had a camp oven roast dinner and a bevvie.  Ticking all the boxes🍷  Stay tuned……….

  1. Great blog again Gayle. So sorry to have missed you last weekend, but we had a long planned long weekend with interstate family as our Christmas breakup. In East Gippsland. So glad you got to catch up with other friends and of course your family.
Hopefully next time. Safe travels and let the adventure continue! 💕
