What a start to the week. The Clare Valley has so much to offer. If we didn’t have a deadline in Adelaide we would of definitely stayed longer and we will definitely be back. Before heading off we decided to go for a bike ride. 50kms of wind, hills, gravel, vineyards, a swish rail trail and so much more. The ride wasn’t for the faint hearted climbing 600mts elevation. Fred was in his glory and I was a happy camper as well as I had my motor for when I needed that little boost. 🤪🚵♀️
It was time to move on, so off to Adelaide we headed. We camped at the Showgrounds and met up with Brad and Vicki who generously had driven from Newcastle with a load of mats for us. We spent a good part of the week unpacking and packing mats from truck to truck and setting up on our site at the 4WD and Adventure Show.
It wasn’t all work and no play, with us enjoying a few rides as well.
Highlights along the bike path
Along the beach front at Glenelg
Largs Pier and Largs Pier Hotel
We utilised the fantastic bike paths, riding to Glenelg and the next day another ride continuing onto Largs Pier. Of course we had to check out the pub (Largs Pier Hotel), the old stomping grounds, or should I say thumping grounds of Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel, beginning their careers way back in their early days. We finished by riding back through the city heart. After riding in Perth last week thinking how amazing it was, this was equal and more, with it stealing a bit of our hearts. We also reckon that we passed Stewie O’Grady jogging on one of the paths, a personal favourite Aussie cyclist of mine.
Friday came quickly and it was showtime. Overall we had a great time, with the mornings being quiet, finishing each day in a flurry. The quiet mornings allowed each of us to wander around and check it all out. Perhaps that’s not the best thing though as I may of indulged in a few bits and pieces. 😉😉. Before we knew it, it was Sunday afternoon and time to pack down. We didn’t pack up completely, planning on bringing the trailer over in the morning to load the surplus, which was much easier obviously.
An end of show bevvie and easy dinner to end a great week. Stay tuned……….
Oh wow Gayle, you continue to have great adventures. Loving all your posts. Glad you are getting lots of cycling in. Stuart O’ Grady! He’s one of my favs too along with Simon Gerrans & Simon Clarke.
Love your mats too. Might have to buy one when you are next in town.
Take care and hopefully we will catch up when you in Vic.
