With our second show done and dusted we headed to Perth. A few weeks ago I mentioned that our clutch fluid had run dry, well it happened again and this time in a hurry. We are due in Adelaide for a show and weren’t willing to risk the drive across the Nullarbor with the problem. Lucky for us, we were able to get it booked into Scania Perth for Tuesday.
This meant organising accommodation and a hire car while the truck was in the shop. We got a cabin at the Perth Central Caravan Park which was within riding distance to Scania. We had to drop De Trailer off about 5mins away from Scania as they were so busy they didn’t have any space left to leave it there. Initially we thought we may get it done in 2 days but it turned out to be 4, so Friday we were back on the road heading out of Perth early afternoon with a new clutch and a lot less dollars. 💸. We actually only needed the slave cylinder seals but decided to get the whole clutch replaced after the effort and labour required to remove the gearbox to make the repairs. We are very grateful to Steve, Tim and Margaret who looked after us admirably at Scania Kewdale.
While De Trucksta was off getting his nip and tuck, we checked out the lovely Perth and Swan River. There were many many bike paths and we took advantage having a few rides in all directions, up, down and across the river. We only really used the car to get our gear to and from the trailer to our cabin.
Now we had De Trucksta reunited with De Trailer, we had to hightail it back across the Nullarbor to Adelaide. We had 3 big days, travelling around 900kms each day. Not ideal, but definitely doable sharing the driving. We encountered quite a bit of headwind but otherwise it was incident free with our new clutch working like a charm.
We stopped on Sunday evening about 130kms short of Adelaide in the town of Blyth deciding to take a quick breather before heading to Adelaide on Monday.
Stay tuned……..
