Happy New Year to all.  Hope everyone has had a great festive season sharing good times with family and friends.  We have had a lovely break, relaxing and spending quality time with friends and family.

We spent Christmas in Mirboo North with visits from Tan and Dale and Jamie, Steph and Lincoln.  We are so lucky to have our wonderful friends, Jon and Lee-Anne, who welcomed us and our family to join them for Christmas Day.  It was lovely to watch Lincoln open his presents and even better to watch him run crazy in the open spaces.  His energy goes far beyond any of us oldies 😜

We saw the New Year in with Jon and Lee-Anne, well the guys may of snuck off a bit before midnight but Lee-Anne and I welcomed 2025 in, very stylishly, in the spa watching the amazing stars while sipping on a glass of bubbles or two. Cheers🍾🥂

We spent a few days in Waratah and Sandy Point enjoying the glorious weather and beaches as well as the company of wonderful friends. We wandered on the beach, took long walks, got up close and personal with the native wildlife and had time for a few relaxing bevies.

It hasn’t been all eating and drinking though, we have been catching up on chores and preparing for the year to come, picking up a pellet of mats, delivering ordered mats, farm jobs and babysitting (by choice and not out of necessity).

Fred has been making time for riding and I joined him for a lovely 50km ride around Mirboo North through the State Forest.  Great trees, tree ferns, the Morwell River and plenty of climbing, 400mt in the first 20kms, finishing with 750mt.

I’ve also enjoyed working on a couple of craft projects, an air plant terrarium and a sun catcher.

It came time to leave Mirboo North and head to Geelong for our first mat show of the year.  We spent a great week with friends, new and old enjoying quite a few happy hours and were pleased with our sales.  We had time for a couple of rides as well and took advantage of the Bellarine Rail Trail.  It goes from Geelong to Queenscliffe. On the day we went all the way to Queenscliffe, we were lucky enough to come across the Steam Train on it’s run.

Last Friday our house sale became unconditional which means we will settle our new home in Newborough on Friday 31st.  A new and exciting chapter to our lives, but this year will still see us travelling most of the time, enjoying our great country while peddling our camping mats.  😜😜

Stay tuned………..

  1. Hi Gayle & Fred,
A wonderful summer for you so far. Family, friends, bike riding, craft with some work sounds like a great balance. Some precious time with little Lincoln too. They grow up so fast.
Please let me know when you have a chance for a coffee or wine catch up in Moe. Or I could come over to your new home or you could come here.
Happy New Year to you too and let the adventures continue. 🥂💕
