454 Days to full-time on the Road

So as I write this the countdown sits at 454 days to our original final date to be on the road. This date is significant to us being 31 March 2022, our 20th wedding anniversary. To be honest we have our fingers crossed that we will be organised earlier and heading off before the end of the year.

So with this in mind it was time to progress with the reno, not to mention that we received another progress payment for Merlin and sold Fred’s motorbike. Over the last 2 weeks we have received delivery are delivery so time to crack the whip and get Fred onto it!

Check all this out, the delivery guy is now a personal friend!

Meet Jimny! We always intended to tow a trailer to carry bits and pieces like our kayak, bikes, tools/workshop and a vehicle for use when parked up. We originally were going to take our motorbikes but after much discussion we decided it would be better to have a small 4WD to allow us to get into places that the bus just won’t go. I have always gazed at Jimny’s with adoring eyes and the dream became a reality with the sale of Fred’s motorbike.

Battery Isolator Switches

These big mothers will allow us to isolate the house batteries and inverter for if we need to work on either the batteries or the inverter.

Bluetooth Water Flow Gauge

This will be connected to our drinking water tank to allow us to monitor the usage.

Ceiling Lights

These sexy numbers are LED and will replace the existing old bus lights on the ceiling.

Electronic Battery Isolator

This flash harry is to isolate the engine batteries but allows the option to use the house batteries to charge them if necessary or visa versa and has a manual override to start the bus should the engine batteries be flat.

Entrance Step LED Lighting

This is job specific channelling for the entrance steps and will have LED strip lights inserted inside. Party Lights lol!

Generator

We had decided not to outlay money on a generator as we are hoping not to have the need for one. We decided that we could review this much later down the track should we decide it necessary. However this was a bargain too good to be true so we are now the proud owners of a generator.

LED Strip Lighting and LED Courtesy Lights

Check these out! Talk about party lights – the LED strip lights will be used in the step channelling, along the ceiling and the along the floor. So cool, remote controlled and as you can see heaps of colours to choose from, whatever the mood desires! The small courtesy lights (right) will be placed in the under carriage bays.

Channelling for Ceiling LED’s – we will be mounting this in timber and attaching it to the
ceiling
Power/Light Switch

This crazy baby is a power switch. Very flash and lights up in keeping with our party light theme lol! We have a couple and they will be wired to all our lights and other electric things like the door magnet on the bathroom door.

240v Pump Power Switch

These little bad boys will be the switches for our water pumps.

Lithium Battery

We have 2 of these and they are huge each weighing in at 30kg each. These will, via our solar through the invertor, provide all our power needs – hopefully!

Solar Panel Cabling
Oversize Vehicle GPS Navigator

We managed to pick up this GPS which is specifically loaded with data for oversize vehicles. We will be 19 metres long and at approx. 3.8 metres high so don’t want to be featured in one of those Utube videos where you make your bus a convertable by driving under a low bridge!

Stone Vanity Basin

This is a beauty but heavy as! When we bought it online we assumed it was “stone look” but no it is actually stone. I love it!

Struts for Top Kitchen Cupboards
Slides for Under Carriage

We want slides for our BBQ, washing machine, fridge etc. These heavy duty slides should do the trick.

USB Charger

We have been looking around for a solution for charging our phones, computers etc. This compact unit will be ideal.

Water Filters

Boring but necessary, we have 3, a double filter for our driking water and a single (particle filter) for our fresh water.

Water Piping
Water Pump

We have 2 pumps that will again be used for fresh water including our hot water and the other for the drinking water. Always good to have a backup plan in case something breaksdown.

So that’s it for now, much work to be done. As things are put in place we will continue to post to show the progress. Stay tuned………
